Skin Sensitivity

​It is a well-established fact that animals possess a superior sense of smell compared to humans. However, it isn’t widely known that animals also have more sensitive skin than humans. 

Several studies have indicated that hair follicles can enhance transdermal absorption of chemicals, such as essential oils. One study published in the Journal of Controlled Release in 2001 found that hair follicles play a significant role in the systemic absorption of chemicals applied topically to the skin. 

Here are some quick tips on what NOT to do when first introducing essential oils to your pet.

Don’t:

• Apply neat
• Apply directly near the face or nose
• Apply oils into ears
• Drop Oils directly in mouth
• Start with strong/hot oils
